2007 Review

January 8, 2008 4 Comments

Before I get into the new year I thought that I would make an entry about the year 2007. I would probably say that 2007 was the year of learning new things.

Personal Life

I would say for personal life, it hasn't changed that much. I love my girlfriend and she loves me, it couldn't be better actually. I've gotten a whole bunch of new friends. Mostly through the university and they are close friends now, we talk about everything and we solve the mysteries that comes with web development together. I also managed to get a few new friends through my old high school.

So friendwise, very rich year.

Freelance

As most of you already know that I'm a student and with that comes freelancing. I've done a couple of small freelance works this year. Björnö Slott, and a couple of other smaller sites. The big jackpot this year was to be able to do the front cover for the magazine ComputerArts, it was my second international freelance job. And all I can say about it is that it was and still feel amazing to see your own artwork on a magazine and in a magazine stand.

Public speaking

I got an email from my former design/media teacher Mathias Billmark from high school, he wanted me to speak about life as a designer and how it all happened. It was really great to go back to my old high school after one and a half year at the University. I talked for about 2 hours in front of a great class, they were all patient and good listeners and they asked a lot of questions. I'm usually very nervous before such an event but there was something about the atmosphere in the class room that just made me feel at ease.

Being a webdeveloper!

I'm a designer and I have always been a designer. But I've learned so much from the classes I've had this year it's incredible. I'm now thinking that I'm a designer/developer. Programming comes naturally to me now, I don't have any problems with reading code, I now know CSS, XHTML, Javascript, DOM, Ajax, Php, Java, C# .NET really good. From now on choosing the developer road isn't that hard. I could do it if I choose to, feels great to have that option! (I won't though...)

The blog

I've had http://www.makenosense.net for almost a year. I guess it was fine, but I decided to split the blog up into two new blogs. The first one is the one you are reading here and the second one is Swedish Fika. It was a good year of blogging, couldn't really come up with anything good to write about at the end of 2007.

Designwise, I've changed the design of http://www.makenosense.net two times. Both really good and I like them. But http://www.alexanderradsby.com is way better! And I really do love this design.

Things to improve!

I would say work harder and better, school is taking a lot of the creativity, I need to do more design related work. Get my driving license, I've been too lazy with this. I need this done before I move away from Kalmar. Write more, I need to write in my blog, keep writing. Get thin, cliché and "good luck" maybe but it needs to be there. Shoot more, my camera is lonely.

2008

So what do I expect from 2008? Nothing really, if I keep on doing what I've been doing then I'll be fine. All I know about what I will be doing in 2008 is: Work hard, earn money, live life.

Great cover indeed. If your camera feels alone I won't mind taking care of her for a while =p

Just want to say that are designers like you that give me inspiration and motivation to continue, so keep on rocking and good luck to everything there
