I've felt for a while now that I've lost my roots a little bit. I'm am a designer not a programmer.

So I've also decided that I'm getting back into Adobe Flash, most developers that is used to Web Standards and Semantic coding probably hate Flash and everything that comes with it. But I'm not like that. Flash is a tool, that serves it's purpose when it needs to.

So I ask you, do you know any good actionscript editors for Mac? and do you have any books that you can recommend on Actionscript 3.0?

I figured that if I'm going to start doing flash again I might aswell try to use Actionscript 3.0. It looks a bit weird but the performance that comes with it is great. I haven't read much about it though...

Can't wait to do some nice looking flash sites. Growing kinda tired of my own portfolio site. It needs a make over!

I've begun using flex 3, which runs on actionscript 3, and I've been having an absolute blast creating AIR and Flex apps.

IMO flex is better than AJAX/JS for rich internet applications. It doesnt have much in the way of design, but it is extremely simple to create beautiful interfaces.

As for AS3, it's a strongly typed OOP language. It's pretty different from AS2, but it's a lot stronger. It covers all the basic OOP ideas, so if you're not decent with programming there will be a sizable learning curve.

Good luck with it, Alex

@James, Thanks a lot mate. I'm used to OOP. So there's no problem there at all. Thanks for the insight!

I hear ActionScript 3.0 Cookbook is a decent book and easy to understand.

About your current portfolio, is it easy to update? That's the biggest issue I've had when trying to make flash sites and such. I never got really into it tho, too tough.

@ø, It's pretty easy I guess, the thumbnails are dynamic with xml but the full images are external swf which I have to make manually. I'll try to make a more dynamic portfolio soon. I haven't updated this one in about a year.

Yeah I'm thinking of Actionscript 3.0 Cookbook actually. Thanks for the tip!

I am attending a course this 2 months about AS 2.0 and 3.0 but unfortunataly the AS 3.0 part is very small. Allthough our study Digital Communication is about innovative, freshness, etc.. this is another disappointment for me. Last year (my 1st) we made a little animation with Director in stead with Flash, so i asked the teachers "why?" and they didnt have any good reason.

So i need to learn stuff on my own, cause school is not sufficent enough.
I have also the AS cookbook here, and i must say i like the book more then the others ive seen.

p.s. hows swedish fika going ? a friend of mine went for school to sweden and said it was indeed delighting :)

@Stephan, That's great to hear, I'll check out that book asap. Swedish Fika is on it's way, we are super busy at the university right now so the articles are a bit slow, but we are getting there. ;)

There are some really good sites at the following:

http://www.thefwa.com/

Also I found a website called Whitevoid made in Flash which I thought was outstanding - maybe you could make something similar to it .

@Adam, thanks Adam, I already know about those two actually =P. Whitevoid is actually built on a thing called Papervision which allows 3d to be implemented in flash easily.

You are crazy.
Your website is hot.
My website should have been back online for 26 days already and it's not there yet cause I have no inspiration.

Blargh!
Hope you're well.

@Tarona, Haha thanks. But I still need to make another one. I'm a good programmer now, so I can probably make something decent ;)
