So I will be visiting Wieden+Kennedy in Portland for an interview. WK are paying for the flight tickets and the hotel. I can say that I was pleasantly surprised by the whole thing, I didn't expect that they would pay flight tickets and hotel for a potential intern. This will be the first time visiting the US as well, so I'm really excited!
I've been thinking of selling my iMac so I can buy a Macbook Pro instead it's much easier when traveling. But as always, there's been rumors about a new MBP for some time. And I don't want to make the mistake buying the current macbook when the new generation is just around the corner. If anyone of you guys have any idea when the new generation is coming, write a comment please ;).
So what should I think about when visiting U.S? Any ideas? Because I have none at all. I'm not used to the culture at all. Take like tipping service people... I have absolutely no idea how to do this at all. We don't do that in Sweden, only if the person serving us is extremely good at what he/she is doing.
I'd appreciate any tips you have about the subject! Wish me good luck, I will be going 20th september.

The rumor is that new mac book pros are coming out in September. I would definitely hold out, the aren't far away
There's no more cultural gap my friend, its 2008 and thats what globalization has brought us. Definitely less than the one between Italy and Sweden :)
The good thing is that the dollar is cheapo.
The rumour-mill is on fire right now. Given the seasonal timing and the fact that Apple hasn't refreshed their notebook line in some time I think September or October is a solid bet.
I purchased a MacBook Pro last year right after the refresh and I couldn't be happier. The only thing I would say is don't trust the display. Apple (like all other manufactures) use TN panels in their notebook displays which lack the colour definition of IPS or PVA panels which are commonly found in desktop displays. So I ended up purchasing a high-end display from Dell for when I'm at work.
I think you'll like Portland. It's a nice city surrounded by gorgeous gardens and beaches.
I live in Seattle, Washington which isn't too far from Portland and I know of a few awesome places you have to check out.
First would be voodoo donuts.. They have the craziest and best donuts you will ever eat in your life. Also Apizza Scholls is a great pizza place.
Hmm.. I guess all I can think of are places to eat right now hah but hopefully that helps.
Good luck with the interview.
Dude! That's effin' epic! Heading to Portland, OR for an internship? Kickass man haha. I'm actually planning a trip to Portland now, ahhh I want to shake your hand if I do, haha!
And as Noel stated, there's rumors that Apple will be releasing a new wave of laptops come September (most likely late Sept.)
Awesome Alex! If you start working with those guys I'm sure they will provide you with a new mac book.
