I'm currently doing a couple of freelance projects during the summer and one of them includes working with Flex. I've done a lot of Actionscript 3 and feel confident enough to work with it so I've just started to learn Flex 3 (thank god for lynda.com). But I don't like the fact that I have to write the Actionscript code in the mxml file. There has to be a better way right?
Does anyone know some best practices for Flex 3?

The last class we have at the university is called "Web development with Actionscript". So I've been messing around with AS3, Tweener and Papervision3D. And I must say that I'm impressed with what Actionscript has to offer.
Actionscript 3.0 is a major change from 2.0. It finally feels lika a real language. We developers that are used to Java, Javascript, PHP 5, C# will feel at home with Actionscript. It's based on the ECMA standard so it's easy to use and structured.
It takes a while to getting used to event based programming. I guess making flash projects are more like working with a software. But I love it. Finally some creativity into web development, the possibilities are endless.
I love that I have to deal with animation as well as functionality. I've missed doing the designer stuff. I will continue with AS3 even after the university studies.
I'll also post my degree project made in Flex Builder, Papervision3D, Tweener, Actionscript when it's done.
I decided that the best way to learn Actionscript is to force myself to only work with Actionscript. I now have 10 weeks of constant Actionscript programming in front of me.

I've felt for a while now that I've lost my roots a little bit. I'm am a designer not a programmer.
So I've also decided that I'm getting back into Adobe Flash, most developers that is used to Web Standards and Semantic coding probably hate Flash and everything that comes with it. But I'm not like that. Flash is a tool, that serves it's purpose when it needs to.
So I ask you, do you know any good actionscript editors for Mac? and do you have any books that you can recommend on Actionscript 3.0?
I figured that if I'm going to start doing flash again I might aswell try to use Actionscript 3.0. It looks a bit weird but the performance that comes with it is great. I haven't read much about it though...
Can't wait to do some nice looking flash sites. Growing kinda tired of my own portfolio site. It needs a make over!
